Nexus is a truly advanced wireless multi-function telescope adapter.

Nexus combines a Digital Setting Circles interface and a Serial To Wifi interface in one powerful package.
 
Using the advantages of WiFi, Nexus allows seamless interfacing of your telescope to the most popular planetarium software running on WiFi compatible computing devices: i-Phone, i-Pad, i-Pod touch, Apple MAC Computers & Windows laptops, Android smartphones, Android tablets, Windows based PCs/tablets/laptops.
 
You can use Nexus to control your telescope intuitively with planetarium software such as SkySafari3 - (Plus or Pro), Starry Night, Cartes du Ciel and TheSky to name but a few.
 
Enjoy truly intuitive graphical touch screen driven object location using real time, real sky images and huge object databases.
 
Powered either by a common pp3 9V battery or external power (9-25V DC) - Nexus will be there when you need it.

Nexus functions as:
 
  • A Wireless DSC controller - When coupled to suitable encoders Nexus will transform any basic Dobsonian telescope into a 21st century observing tool, by giving you wireless control of your telescope pointing using the latest astronomy software interfaces. As part of one of our IDOL (Intelligence Driven Object Location) kits Nexus will provide you with full object location, touch screen, point & shoot and accurate pointing control of your Dobsonian telescope, wirelessly from your touch screen device #.
 
  • A Serial RS232 to WiFi adapter - Thus when plugged into just about any* object location handset on any computerised GoTo scope, Nexus boosts your object location from the stoneage "2-line16-character dot matrix" era to the 21st century touch screen, real sky, real time, planetarium software era in seconds. Enjoy total object location, touch screen point&shoot and GoTo control of your scope wirelessly from your touch screen device #.

 

  • A Wireless DSC with ServoCAT - If coupled using both serial ports  to a ServoCat system, Nexus can give you full wireless control and GoTo for your Dobsonian, using the latest astronomy software interfaces and apps, wirelessly from your touch screen device # (a free firmware/software upgrade may be required) .

 

  • 1x Wireless DSC + 2 x RS232 to WiFi + 1 x USB serial to WiFi adapter simultaneously - Just in case you have a herd of telescopes to manage in the field...... or if you generously want to give your buddies wireless control of their scopes too on an observing night. Nexus can provide fully independent control of up to 3 simultaneously connected telescopes through its multiple inputs and via embedded multi-point wireless access ........

 

* Amongst others, Nexus works with Meade Autostar, Celestron NexStar , Skywatcher SynScan, GoTo scopes and SkyCommander, Argo Navis, location systems.

 
 # Nexus works with software running on i-Phone, i-Pad, i-Pod touch, Apple MAC Computers & laptops , Android smartphones and tablets  and windows based PCs laptops and tablets. We recommend SkySafari3-plus or pro as the best there is, and amazingly reasonable too.
 
 
 If you have more than one telescope, say a big Dobsonian and a smaller " grab and go"  GoTo then Nexus will work with both, and can be easily moved from one scope to another , or indeed can be coupled to both and control both independently at the same time !
 
 
Oh, and Nexus can also control the shutter release on DSLRs if you are into deep sky long exposure imaging.

Nexus supports both Ad-hoc and Infrastructure (WPE/WPA/WPA2) WiFi network connection, WPS is supported in the infrastructure mode.
 
 
 What a Nexus equipped system involves
 
 
 
Positional data either from a GoTo handset or from encoders on a Dobsonian mount  is interpreted and transmitted wirelessly to your touch screen hand held device by Nexus. The astronomy program running on your device then gives you full control of your telescope's position, including slew and GoTo if the mount is GoTo enabled.
 
 
In short, in combination with good planetarium software ( e.g.SkySafari3-plus) and an input device ( ideally hand held touch screen device ) Nexus provides a cost effective and very advanced intuitive graphical interface wireless telescope control system for all popular GoTo telescopes, and when fitted as part of one of our IDOL kits,  for all Dobsonian mounted telescopes too .
 
 
We recommend Skysafari3 Plus/pro with a touch screen device (especially i-Pad, i-Phone, and i-Pod touch) as an interface for Nexus as we think it represents a very advanced intuitive interface and the best software value-for-money on the market at this time, but do please note that Nexus also works with most other popular software programs, including the following, running on suitable handheld devices, PCs, laptops and MAC computers
 
 
 
 
Please also note, when considering  Nexus   :
 
 
Nexus can be safely powered from your 12v Powertank ( often 13.5v when fully charged) or scope control panel with no chance of overheating, as Nexus is designed to use all voltages 9v - 25v.
 
Nexus works with all Android devices , with no need to adapt or modify your device.
